This rating is based on the popularity of request, and general public views.  At the bottom of the list is red oak.  The popularity of this specie has deteriorated over the last few years.  This could be due to its being used as wood flooring and other applications for so long; people may want a change.  This does not apply to Quartersawn red oak though as it does very well still.  Species doing very well are the reclaimed materials, the strand woven bamboo, red maple, and hickory.   These have gained popularity over the last 5 years.
